Ghodrati Foundation Seeks Partnerships to Help More Students

Ghodrati Foundation Seeks Partnerships to Help More Students

The Ghodrati Foundation Scholarship has a noble goal for its first decade – to provide scholarships to over 1000 students, and support 100 artists and 50 athletes. In order to achieve that goal, they need assistance from like-minded people.

Some families struggle to afford tuition fees even after the Scholarship has been endorsed. The Scholarship covers up to 45% of fees and works closely with beneficiaries to develop the most affordable payment plans. For those in dire straits, however, that may not be enough.

The Ghodrati Foundation, established by Esfandiar and Farideh Ghodrati, is keen to partner with interested parties, be they companies, organizations or individuals, to augment their efforts and allow them to reach more people. While the government values the initiative, it does not provide any form of support to the Foundation. Sometimes even getting the buy-in of the community can prove to be a challenge.

“There is a lack of support from the community on the importance of education and training in the artisan and technical fields,” co-founder Mr. Esfandiar Ghodrati explains.

Because the Ghodrati Foundation is a private foundation, public donations are not allowed. However, there are other ways for people to support the Foundation’s work.

“The private sector can help by providing support, training programmes, engaging in partnerships, and sponsoring their own staff,” Mr. Ghodrati says.

Interested individuals can also support the cause by volunteering and organizing fundraisers on the Foundation’s behalf. Students from remote areas may struggle to find accommodation in Gaborone. This is one area in which partnerships and sponsorships can make a big difference.

For the Ghodrati family giving back to the community has always been a vital part of their lives. They have partnered with companies such as Walk of Hope in the past and look forward to working with others to assist as many young people as possible.

“We want to build a generation that is educated and has access to the same opportunities as everyone else,” says Mrs. Farideh Ghodrati.
