The Ghodrati Foundation is a private non-profit organization founded on the conviction that everyone deserves the chance to improve their lives, regardless of their circumstances. Our vision is to contribute to the socio-economic development of Botswana. With this in mind, the Foundation has partnered with New Era College to deliver the opportunity of a lifetime through the Ghodrati Foundation Scholarship, which helps young Batswana attain engineering and hospitality qualifications.

We aim to:

Enable youth from low income families to attain engineering and business qualifications.

Assist parents and the Botswana government in expanding the national vision towards youth empowerment and development.

Give youth who discontinued from tertiary education a second chance to attain qualifications.

Help youth with 30 to 35 points (with credits in English, Mathematics and Sciences) attain qualifications up to Level 5.

Encourage and support staff development initiatives in corporate organisations.
- Give back to the community through social responsibility.
The Roots, Where it All Started
Background
This initiative aims to educate and empower young Batswana in acquiring engineering and hospitality qualifications without necessarily depending on or waiting for government sponsorship. The Ghodrati Foundation Scholarship also aims to respond to government’s call for the private sector to actively participate in the socio – economic development of Botswana through a cost-sharing approach.
The Ghodrati Foundation Scholarship is a support system saving students and their families thousands of pula towards their education. It is not a student loan programme.
The Founders
The Ghodrati Foundation was founded by Esfandiar and Farideh Ghodrati, who have been in the education sector for the last 25 years. The Ghodrati family has been giving back ever since they were welcomed and accepted into the community. The Ghodrati Foundation has formalized their philanthropy and allowed them to scale their efforts and reach a greater audience, focusing on education, arts and sports.
The Ghodrati Foundation is a small office with great ambitions to support youth of Botswana, and has both full time workers and volunteers. The Foundation works closely with the New Era College Admissions and Accounts offices.
